ADMISSION PROCESS
FRESHMEN AND TRANSFEREES
1. ADMISSION (Screening and Assigning of ID Number)
(Student’s will undergo screening committee for assigning of STUDENT NUMBER and to accomplish the enrollment form and other documents needed)
2. DEPARTMENT (Evaluation) For TRANSFEREES Student’s only
(Transferee student will go to their respective department Coordinator/Dean for evaluation)Note: Student’s will present their school credential to the evaluator;
3. ACCOUNTING (Signing of Enrollment Form)
(Student’s will go to the Accounting Office to pay the ENTRANCE FEE)
4. CLINIC (Medical Check Up) For MARITIME Students only, and other courses as required. Other COURSES will proceed to STEP 5)
Note: All MARITIME students should undergo medical check-up
5. DEPARTMENT (Plotting, Verifying and Encoding of Subjects)
(For Accountancy student(s), take a qualifying exam)
1. Students will PLOT the subjects
2. Students will go to the verifier In-charge for verification
3. Proceed to the Encoding of Subjects In-charge for enrollment
Note: After encoding, the Deans copy portion should be CUT and retain at the Dean’s Office.
6. MIS (Printing and Releasing of Study Load)
(Students will present the enrollment form to the In-charge for printing of Study Load)
7. REGISTRAR (Submission of Enrollment Form and other Documents)
(Student will submit the Enrollment Form and other School Records to the Registrar’s Office).
Note:
1. The In-charge will double check if all subjects reflected on the study load is/are the same subjects written on the Enrollment Form.
2. Cut the STUDENT copy then attach the STUDY LOAD and Give/Release it to the student(s).

The University of the
Visayas is open to students who meet its academic standards and who are
personally qualified to acquire a formal education, has the personal aptitude
to carry on a directed school work as expected of them culturally, emotionally,
mentally and professionally, socially adaptable, communicative proficiency in
the English language and are willing to abide by the rules, values and ideals
of the institution.
The University of the
Visayas follows the “open admission, selective retention” policy of student
admission.
FOR FRESHMEN / NEW STUDENT APPLICANTS
Freshmen are high
school graduates enrolling in college for the first time. Only a graduate of a
recognized high school shall be considered for enrolment as a new student. At
the time of enrolment, a freshman must submit the following:
- Completely
filled-out Application Form.
- 4
pieces 2×2 colored picture
- His/her
high school report card (form 138) duly certified or signed by their
School Principal.
- The
original copy of his/her National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE)
result;
- Original
(for presentation only) and photocopy of his/her NSO-certified birth
certificate.
- Certificate
of Good Moral Character from his/her principal or guidance counselor.
- As
set by the University of the Visayas, students who intend to enroll in a
degree with board examinations (e.g. Accountancy, Medicine,
- Dentistry,
Law, Nursing, etc.) regardless of NCAE results should take the prescribed
entrance examinations administered by the Guidance Testing Center.
TRANSFER APPLICANTS
Transferees or
transfer students are those who wish to enrol in any program at the University
of the Viasayas after having been enrolled in a college of technical courses
another higher education institution. At the time of enrolment, a transferee
must submit the following credentials:
- Completely
filled-out Application Form.
- 4
pieces 2×2 colored pictures
- A
certificate of transfer credentials (Honourable Dismissal) from the last
school attended
- Original
(for presentation only) and photocopy of his/her NSO-certified birth
certificate.
- An
informative copy of his transcript of records which should include the
descriptive title of the subjects taken, the number of units and the
grades earned.
- Certificate
of Good Moral Character signed by the dean/head of school and/ the
guidance director of students affairs.
RETURNING STUDENTS
Returnees or returning
students are students who have been discharged from the University of the
Visayas either through graduation or by their own will or volition, or those
who have discontinued their studies in the University for some reasons but do
not have valid leaves of absence in-placed; provided that they have not
enrolled in any program in any other higher education institution after leaving
the University of the Visayas. At the time of enrolment, a returning student
must submit the following:
- 4
pieces of 2×2 colored pictures;
- Copies
of his/her grades of the previous semester in which he/she was enrolled in
the University;
- Clearance
from the Student Affairs Office/Guidance Center, and
- Accounting
office clearance for any financial accountabilities;
- Other
documents may be required from time-to-time.
SHIFTEE STUDENTS
Shiftees are similar
to continuing students except that they would like to shift to another course
offered in the University. The following are the requirements for shiftees:
- 4 pieces
of 2×2 colored pictures;
- Electronic
print-out of the grades from the MIS to be used by the accepting Dean for
evaluation; and
- Other
documents may be required from time-to-time.
SECOND COURSERS
Second Coursers are
student who have completed an undergraduate degree in another higher education
institution and are enrolled in a different program in the University. Below
are the requirements needed for this applicant:
- Completely
filled-out Application Form.
- 4
pieces of 2×2 colored pictures
- Honorable
Dismissal (from the last school attended);
- PSA
(Formerly NSO) Authenticated Birth Certificate (Original and 1 pc.
Photocopy);
- Certificate of Good Moral Character (Original)
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT APPLICANTS
Students from foreign
countries shall be required to meet substantially the entrance or admission
requirements prescribed for a degree in UV.
The Foreign Service
Officer in the Admission, Linkages and Placement (ALP) Office assesses
objectively the status of the student- applicants are identified based on the
following categories:
- New
student
- Transferees/transfer
students
- 9f
visa holder (a type of non- immigrant visa for students); and
- 9a
visa holder (a type of non-immigrant visa for pleasure, business or
health)
A foreign national
applying for admission in the University shall be required to submit the
following documents:
- Personal
appearance;
- Letter
of Intent;
- Official
Transcript of Records authenticated at the Philippine Embassy of the place
of origin of the applicant;
- Affidavit
of Support executed by parent/s or legal guardian to be authenticated in
the Philippine Embassy;
- Photocopy
of the passport valid not less than six(6) months beyond the intended
period of stay in the Philippines;
- 2
pieces of 2×2 sized photographs;
- Duly
accomplished Personal History Statement forms or Application for College
Admission Form or
- Application
for Transfer/ Another Degree Form as may be deemed applicable on the
situation of the student-applicant;
- Photocopy
of Certificate of Good Moral Character authenticated at the Philippine
Embassy
- Photocopy
of the Medical Health Certificate issued by an authorized physician
including but not limited to standard-size chest X-ray, HIV test, and
Hepatitis-B clearance.
- Quarantine
Medical Examination by the National Quarantine Office/ bureau of
Quarantine and International Health Surveillance;
- For
non-native English speakers, applicants are required to take and pass the
English Proficiency Test from the Guidance Center. If and when the student
fails in the English Proficiency Test a tutorial session is required to be
taken care of by the College of Arts and Sciences;
- National
Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NCI) Clearance;
- (for
Medicine Only) Diploma or Certificate of Graduation from an allied
collegiate course; and
- (for
Medicine Only) National Medical Admission Test (NMA) results.
FOR BASIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT APPLICANTS
Applicants must
present the following credentials to the UV-Basic Education Department Guidance
